My name is Jack, shortened from Captain Jack,
but I am no
pirate. I come from a long line of royalty with award winning Australian
Shepherd show dogs throughout my lineage-Gramp was a champ! I don’t
let my
heritage go to my head though. I get along
well with
everyone, including cats and my own kind. I’m what you call an equal
opportunity friend! Trust me, I know. I’ve lived with just about
everything!
I’m pretty mellow but despite my friendly personality, can be a bit shy
at
first. I get over that pretty quickly with a big scratch on my back.
Love that!
My favorite things to do are hang out with people, play fetch with noisy
toys, get
my hair brushed, sleep, and eat, of course. Even though I look like I
need to
lay off the treats, it’s just my wild hair. Really! I’m a rather smart
guy with
2 years of obedience training. I know all the basic commands plus some i
was taught to help me deal with being blind, such as careful (I’m about
to bump into something), and step
(stairs). I only get on furniture if invited but I would be more than
happy to
keep you warm at night if you want. Of course I’m housetrained,
neutered, up to
date on my shots and free from any diseases…except one. I have a very
painful
eye condition that made me blind. The doctor has fixed me up so I’m
doing well
now, but I can’t see a thing! Don’t let that worry you though. Love is
blind! Fall in love with me and I promise you a lifetime
of
love back.

Dr. Christina Sandberg and Dr. Dara Zirofsky Join Northwest Animal Eye Specialists!
It is with great excitement that we announce our expansion to a three-doctor practice. Dr. Christina Sandberg and Dr. Dara Zirofsky joined Northwest Animal Eye Specialists this fall and have been a wonderful addition to our team. Both have completed residency training in veterinary ophthalmology, which is an intensive 3-year program in comparative ophthalmology that occurs after undergraduate education and veterinary school. Dr. Sandberg came to Washington after most recently spending time in Virginia where she did her residency training at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Zirofsky joined us after completing ophthalmology residency training at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
We have worked hard not just to expand our team of doctors but to find incredible ones who we know you will love and will take great care of your pets. We know that the expansion of our veterinarian staff will allow us to serve you even better. We hope that you will welcome them to the practice.
With the growth of our team of veterinarians, we have also expanded the support staff. New members to our staff as of the second half of 2009 are Misty, Annie, Savannah, Victoria, and Kendra.
Feel free to stop by any time to meet all of our new crew!

NWAES Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary! It is hard to believe but Northwest Animal Eye Specialists just celebrated our 10-year anniversary on July 5, 2009. We would like to thank our loyal clients for allowing this to happen. It has been a pleasure to be able to care for your pets and we plan to be here for many years to come. We are also grateful to our referring veterinarians. We are all part of a team who share the same goal – helping the pets. And without our referring veterinarians, we wouldn’t be here. Lastly, thank you to those clients who are now bringing us their second, third, and fourth, etc., pets for us to care for their challenging eye problems. |
We are an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accredited Referral Practice! We are pleased to announce that we are an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)-Accredited Referral Practice. Our accreditation demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards of veterinary care. In order to achieve this accreditation, a veterinary hospital must be evaluated to make sure that standards are met or exceeded in areas including patient care, hospital services, and equipment. Specialty standards for ophthalmology just became available in the latter half of 2008 and Northwest Animal Eye Specialists is one of the first ophthalmology practices in North America to achieve such referral accreditation. Overall, only 15% of animal hospitals in the US are accredited by AAHA (and it is much fewer than that for specialty practices).
