Your appointment will begin with time to complete paperwork and to meet with one of the technicians or assistants on our healthcare team. This team member will perform some initial diagnostic tests, which may include a glaucoma (pressure) check, tear test and fluorescein stain. Even if your pet has had these tests done in the past, they will most likely need to be repeated as the condition of the eye can change very quickly. Your pet’s eyes may also need to be dilated, which can take up to 20 minutes to reach desired effect. If your pet’s eyes are dilated, plan for them to be light sensitive for up to eight hours.

Your pet will have a complete eye exam done at this time by the veterinary ophthalmologist using very specialized equipment. You can expect to leave the exam with a treatment plan and medications if necessary.
